CoMoUK accredits bike share operators to provide clarity and reassurance via an agreed set of standards which accredited operators meet, saving repetition of work for both authorities and operators.
The criteria have been carefully chosen to provide a robust framework whilst not stifling innovation.
Our accreditation schemes have been developed in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders. This forms part of the membership package available to operators and suppliers who currently run or wish to run schemes in the UK. Accreditation is reviewed annually via consultation with any interested stakeholder.
There are three standards of accreditation: full; small and specialised schemes; and provisional.
CoMoUK recommends that operators with provisional accreditation should be considered alongside those with full accreditation to run schemes. This ensures the market is kept open and fosters innovation and competition. With provisional accreditation, CoMoUK carries out the same checks on new entrants as full accreditation with the exception of items required at launch, such as a current insurance policy, tailored operational plans or UK website updates.
CoMoUK requires all outstanding documentation to be provided to convert to full accreditation within 60 days of receipt of a Memorandum of Understanding/contract or launch, whichever is sooner. CoMoUK can provide local authorities with an annex to the accreditation certificate which outlines the outstanding actions which are required to secure full accreditation.
