This mini hub in Worle, is part of North Somerset Council’s plans to deliver new transport hubs, to enhance the public realm and improve passenger facilities across several key locations. A primary objective of the project is to enable seamless multi-modal trips by providing safe, secure facilities for cyclists and pedestrians alike.
To ensure a modern, inclusive, and green environment, this hub will feature:
- Sustainable Infrastructure: Bus shelters equipped with living green roofs and low-wattage lighting. Fixed bus routes (most of served by electric buses) and a DDRT service from WESTlink.
- Accessible Information: Low-power, Real-Time Information (RTI) screens featuring text-to-speech functionality. Main hubs will also include large freestanding totems with creative wayfinding maps on the reverse, designed by a local business.
- Inclusive Seating: Bench seating with armrests alongside dedicated spaces for wheelchairs, pushchairs, and mobility scooters.
- Community & Wellbeing: Shared-use footways, planters managed by local volunteers, and "Chatty Benches" to help combat loneliness.
- Active Travel & Security: Cycle stands, secure cycle lockers, comprehensive wayfinding signage to local landmarks (such as train stations), and—where feasible—parcel lockers and CCTV.
