Policy

Overview

CoMoUK undertakes policy and public affairs work across shared transport, including shared cars, shared bike and e-bikes, lift sharing, shared e-scooters and mobility hubs.

Particular current priorities are shared micromobility licensing, mobility hubs at railway stations, and responding to the withdrawal of Zipcar from the UK. You can learn more about this work in the consultation responses and briefings on this page, including our latest focus points.

Impact

CoMoUK has undertaken policy, advocacy and public affairs work for many years. We do this to further understanding of shared transport and in particular its many social, economic and environmental benefits.

Our early work involved defining car club bay lines and signs. More recently, we have secured inclusion for EV charging infrastructure for car clubs in the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund.

From the special treatment that car club EVs receive under the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate to our current work on the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill and its creation of a licensing framework for bikeshare, CoMoUK strives to influence the debate around shared transport, deepen insight and foster its delivery on public benefits.
