Nottingham Victoria Embankment

Nottingham’s Travel Well pop-up mobility hub will be on Victoria Embankment outside 1881 Cafe from 19 May to 29 June 2026 and is part of a project to help people walk, wheel or cycle more for local journeys.

Come along to our weekly information stalls at the hub to find out more about all the activities running over the 6 weeks. There will be a chance to try out Lime e-bikes, learn about Nottingham’s travel planning app, Ride, and pick up Nottingham cycle maps. Lime e-bike tryouts are open to adults aged 18+.

A Dr Bike clinic will also be running at the hub at the same time, so bring your bike along too. Our RideWise mechanics can carry out minor repairs and safety checks on both adult and children’s bikes.

Dr Bike appointments can be booked in advance to guarantee a slot. We’ll also do our best to accommodate drop-ins on the day, but you may need to wait, depending on availability.

Our friendly led rides around the neighbourhood give you the chance to try cycling with Lime e-bikes. These relaxed rides are suitable for anyone comfortable riding a standard bike and are designed for a range of confidence levels. Led by experienced ride leaders, each session lasts around 1.5 hours, including a refreshment break along the way. This session is open to adults aged 18+.

Our gentle, social walks in nature are led by experienced leaders from Runspire. They are suitable for everyone - people with physical and mental health issues are all welcome. The walk includes free pedometers (step counters) and an optional drink at the cafe afterwards.

A great opportunity to learn key bike building and maintenance skills with a friendly, supportive tutor. During the session, you’ll help build a bike and learn practical maintenance techniques. At the end of the session, you’ll be able to take the bike home for your own use.

Travel info

Travelling without a car in and around Nottingham

There are many options for travelling around Nottingham by bus, tram and rail.

There are several bus stops close to the hub, with regular services to various parts of Nottingham. Most buses in the city are operated by Nottingham City Transport; you can get detailed information on all routes and services on their website. You can also use their journey planner to find the most convenient way to get to your destination.

The closest train station is Nottingham Railway Station, about a 25-minute walk or a 15-minute bus away. The closest tram stop is Meadows Embarkment, about 16-minute walk away.

There are different options for public transport fares, including:

  • A day ticket with NCT, who run most of the buses that stop near to the hub, is £5.30, and a single ticket is £3 (for latest fare and route information see their website). Additionally, there are options for Easyrider passes and PlusBus tickets for unlimited travel across the local area.
  • Tickets for the tram can be purchased on the Nottingham Express Transit website, at the bus stops or in the Netgo! App. A single ticket costs £3.60, while a day-ticket costs £5.80.
  • Train tickets can be purchased at the station or online. Nottingham is served by the following train operators: East Midlands Railway, CrossCountry and Northern Railway. You can click on each of their websites to find out more about routes, timetables and purchase tickets.

Want to walk or cycle more often?

You can walk or wheel to most places in Nottingham, and the city centre is not far from the hub. The railway station is a 25-minute walk away and the town centre with the old Market Square is 35 minutes away. There are also green spaces along the river excellent for walking.

Walk Notts

Walk Notts aims to inspire, enable, and support residents and communities in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to walk or wheel in their everyday lives. Their website hosts a calendar of active and self-guided walks around town, as well as helpful information on how to get started.

Most places in Nottingham city centre can be reached comfortably by bike. The hub is right on the shared path running along the river Trent, following this you can reach Colwick Country Park in just 15 minutes. to explore this and other paths, you can view the official Nottingham Cycle Map here. You can also plan your cycling route using the CycleStreets website or app.

If you are interested in a longer cycle ride, Nottinghamshire boasts a whole variety of routes to choose from for all types and abilities. For information on routes and local cycling groups, check out the Cycling UK website.
